RFB’s Ebay Examiner
Browsing eBay Film Cameras tonight. Here are some ones I found interesting. I bid on a couple of them but only the minimum so I don’t expect to score any. As usual, I’m not affiliated with any of the sellers.
The Okako Waltax (above) looks like a really sweet example, with some fantastic accessories including a rangefinder. But, what really got me was this leaflet on FLickr. I want a folding 6×6 someday, and this is a 6×45 but it’s just so exec! I know I won’t win it. … More likely would be this beater Foldex 20. Takes 120, so that’s a bonus. Looks like a 6×7 actually? I could look it up… but I will leave it to chance. … I could always go 6×9 from the Ukraine. Wow, that’s tempting. …
Really, how did Russia lose the cold war? They made the coolest cameras, like this 3-D Sputnik. … What the heck is on the front of this Mamiya C330? … History buffs, Here’s the Japanese predecessor of the Lomo LCA .., Got few grand? Maybe we can interest you in a Rollei 35 in original box? … No? Well now that 110 film is making a comeback, maybe you’d like to build your own. … This seller, u-mecking, has a bunch of really interesting scans of vintage catalogs and such that he is selling on CD. My faves are the Rollei diagrams and Leica Catalogs. Plus, check out the cool photos of a Voigtlander Bessamatic. That’s legit.
Speaking of Rollei: When we were kids, we had a generic, politically incorrect term for off-brand clones of famous names. We called them Fujip. That’s what I think of when I see this TLR. … This Yashica Electro has a flexible hypeman helping the sale. … This is the earliest Smena I’ve ever seen (also with rangefinder) … And finally, here’s the sweetest restored Polaroid package for more money than you’re willing to pay: a great 450 — not unlike the camera on the cover of the new Sara Bareilles EP — that takes Fuji100 instant film, and every accessory you could ever need. Only $376.15! Eep! Okay, it’s too much, but it sure is cool.
It was at this point I gave up looking. Seen any eBay oddities in the camera section? Let me know!
