When I was younger, much younger, I played a lot of video games. One of those video games was called Utopia where two island-states competed to develop a perfect civilization. While planting crops and building houses were important, it turned out that the most important tactic in the game was to send out your fishingboat and fish, fish, fish as much as you possibly could. Fishing brought in the only reliable wealth that you could control. Constant fishing resulted in enough wealth to carry out your chosen policies, benevolent or vicious as the wind blew. Fish equalled power.
I liked playing as the leader of the red island.
My blog won’t ever land me a job at Gawker, because it’s not very focused. I’ll blab about baseball, the sad state of the media industry I work in, really obscure music, my photography. I’m blogging to keep my writing as sharp as it can be.
And, I vow to not use “…” if I can possibly help it.

Your blog kicks ass Mick O. I’m a little disturbed by the size of crime on your tag cloud, though. If I’m not mistaken, it’s larger than music.
Don’t ever let crime drown out the music, brother Mick.

I think the hierarchy is now ‘photo’ in first, then ‘music’, then ‘crime’ in third place. Just a little surprised whiskey is not in the list?

Hi Will - That was a GREAT photo you took of Kazai Rex on Nov 5 at Hear NOHO (just found it through google). I help the band out and will tell them about it. I know they would love to include that picture on their site somewhere (if okay with you). You really captured their energy. I am going to talk to Marti about it as well. You are very talented. Thank you so much.

Hi, Michael,
I’m the editor of CCC Online, a journal for scholars in the field of rhetoric and composition: .
In Fall 2011, I will be publishing a special issue on performance. This issue will be guest-edited by Jenn Fishman.
Jenn would like to use your photo “How You Do It at the Do Lab” () in the call for proposals, which will be posted online for academics to view.
Would you give Jenn and me consent to repost your photo in this new context?
Thank you,
Bump
